Overview

Queens Comfort, nestled on E Cary St in Richmond, VA, stands out as a vibrant showcase of Latin comfort food with a distinct New York twist. This cozy restaurant captures the heart of authentic flavors through a thoughtfully curated menu that bridges traditional Latin dishes with the boldness of urban street fare.

The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between soulful and eclectic, inviting diners into a space where every detail—from the colorful decor to the tantalizing aromas of charred meats—feels carefully crafted to evoke a sense of warmth and authenticity. It’s an intimate nook that manages to transport you to a bustling Latin kitchen or a New York deli without ever leaving Richmond.

The culinary highlight is undoubtedly their range of signature sandwiches and tacos. Queens Comfort’s Cubano sandwich, a fan favorite, showcases perfectly mojo-roasted pork paired with ham, Swiss cheese, and pickles, pressed to crispy perfection. This sandwich alone embodies the establishment’s commitment to rich, layered flavors that satisfy deeply. Complementing this are the flame-grilled steak tacos, shrimp topped with house-made slaw, and the inventive ‘Cod Father’ sandwich, which adds an Italian-style cod fillet to the lineup.

The menu also pays homage to classic Latin side dishes like fried green plantains, red or black beans, and rice in comforting, well-executed portions—each bringing balance and texture to the robust mains. Customers consistently praise the tostones for their crispy, golden edges paired with tender interiors and subtle sweetness that elevate every meal.

Queens Comfort thrives not only through its food but also through its genuine, friendly service and laid-back vibe that appeals to a diverse audience. Whether you’re a local seeking nostalgic flavors or someone exploring Latin cuisine for the first time, the experience here offers a welcoming, flavorful journey. The combination of vibrant ambiance and soulful dishes makes it a delightful spot for casual dinners, group gatherings, or simply a meaningful meal full of character.

While a few items may invite debate on their presentation, the overall reception highlights a place where passion for traditional Latin cooking meets the energy of New York’s culinary culture. The restaurant’s ability to marry these influences results in a menu that both comforts and excites—right in the heart of Richmond.

This place deserves your attention, at least once. Stepping in really felt like I just warped to a little restaurant nook in New York. They have the atmosphere down with the smell of charred meats and compact location. I got pupusas and the chopped cheese. This thing is packed with meat. Second visit: Empanadas very good! Pineapple pork sandwich is just okay. It's not on a pineapple bun like the menu says and it's not glazed. Doesn't fit the vibe of extra large ny sandwich when you compare it to the chopped cheese. Lowered my rating to reflect the second visit

Legit latino food here! My wife really liked the rice, and pupusas...shes from Honduras. I liked my chicharones...so meaty. The flavors were spit on from where we've lived and traveled. Good service, Nice ambiance. I now have 3 places I'd go for Mexican/Latino food in this city. 5 stars.

Absolutely loved our visit to Queens Comfort. My wife and I both went with the Cuban sandwich, and wow—it did not disappoint. The meat was crazy tender, super flavorful, and the whole thing was perfectly pressed. Honestly one of the best Cubans we’ve had in a long time. We also tried the plantains and they were spot on—crispy edges, soft inside, just the right amount of sweetness. Service was quick, everyone was friendly without being fake, and the vibe in there was just fun. Eclectic decor, but in a way that works. We’ll 100% be back and will be bringing friends next time!

I can’t say enough good things about Queens Comfort Latin Kitchen in RVA. This was my third visit, and each time it just gets better, but this time trying their dinner menu truly sealed it as one of my favorite spots in town. I ordered the Pernil, which came out hot and impossibly tender. The shredded mojo roasted pork was packed with flavor, rich, savory, and well seasoned. The rice and black beans were the perfect comforting base, and the sweet plantains added that little touch of caramelized sweetness that balances everything out. I also tried the Ropa Vieja, and wow, this is the kind of dish that transports you straight to a Cuban restaurant in Miami. The shredded flank steak was simmered to perfection in a deeply flavorful tomato sauce with peppers and onions, soaking into the rice and beans underneath. Every bite was pure comfort. The tostones on the side were golden and crispy, perfect for scooping up every last bit. Everything came out fresh, hot, and clearly made with care. You can really taste the love that goes into the cooking here. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food never disappoints. One small note though, one of the servers was still learning the ropes, so just remember to be patient and kind. They were working hard to make sure everyone was taken care of, and it’s great to see local businesses giving people the chance to grow. If you’re craving authentic Latin comfort food that feels like home, Queens Comfort Latin Kitchen is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend. Five stars all the way :)

This is a fantastic place that makes you feel as if you’re in another world when you walk in. It’s small with a few tables but the food packs an amazing punch. We each got tacos (3 beef and 3 Birria) & would highly recommend. The Birria tacos were the best I’ve had anywhere (and I order them a lot!) Highly recommend!
